Sunburn Prevention
Fair-skinned people and those working in the sun, such as sailors, farmers, ranchers, road crew workers, and construction personnel, are at the greatest risk for developing sunburn and, ultimately, skin cancer. Prevention of sunburn includes
- • avoiding sun exposure between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, when the suns rays are the strongest.
- • using sunscreen with SPF (sun protection factor) of 15 or higher on all exposed skin.
- • wearing a large-brimmed hat to reduce sun exposure to the face, ears and head.
- • avoiding tanning beds.
